Umm Al-Qura University Concludes Hajjathon 4 with Four Winning Innovative Projects

Makkah, September 03, 2026, SPA -- The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research at Umm Al-Qura University concluded the fourth edition of Hajjathon, with four teams winning for their innovative projects. The competition was held as part of the activities accompanying the 26th Scientific Forum for Hajj, Umrah and Visit Research.

Hajjathon 4 brought together innovators and others interested in developing services for pilgrims. Participants worked on solutions across four tracks: technology and artificial intelligence (AI); engineering and infrastructure; healthcare; and awareness and crowd management. The event aimed to improve the quality of services provided to pilgrims, raise awareness and safety, and facilitate crowd movement.

Participants took part in workshops and mentoring sessions designed to expand their knowledge, strengthen their skills, and help turn ideas into projects that could be further developed and implemented. Finalists then presented their projects to a judging panel for evaluation based on established criteria. The fourth edition attracted more than 400 applicants, who developed 176 innovative projects. Twelve teams advanced to the final round, supported by 35 mentors and trainers and 12 expert judges specializing in the Hajj and Umrah sector. The winners were honored during the forum's opening ceremony.

Hajjathon 4 reflects the university’s efforts to foster innovation and entrepreneurship and harness the ideas and potential of young people. It also seeks to develop practical, sustainable solutions that improve the pilgrim experience and support the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in advancing the Hajj and Umrah services ecosystem.
