The Development of Luggage Storage Services at the Two Holy Mosques Increases Capacity and Enhances…

The General Authority for the Care and Management of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque continues to develop the supporting services system provided to visitors of the Two Holy Mosques through the implementation of an integrated operational plan to upgrade luggage storage services, as well as lost and unclaimed baggage services. This contributes to facilitating the movement of Hajj pilgrims, ‘Umrah pilgrims, and visitors, and enhancing levels of comfort and organisation within the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, particularly during peak seasons that witness high crowd densities. These efforts come as an extension of the General Authority’s commitment to developing supporting operational services that improve the experience of the Guests of Ar-Rahman, by providing effective organisational solutions that help reduce congestion within corridors and courtyards, and support the smooth flow of movement across various sites associated with the Two Holy Mosques. The development works have included expanding luggage storage centres and lost-and-found baggage areas, increasing the number of centres to six main centres, in addition to raising the number of service locations to six distributed in a carefully planned manner to cover the largest number of beneficiaries and ensure easy access to the service in the most crowded areas. The plan also includes updating baggage receiving and delivery procedures through more efficient operational processes that help speed up service and reduce waiting times, along with applying organisational and technical standards that enhance the accuracy and safety of baggage storage and ensure easy retrieval by their owners. In terms of awareness, the General Authority has intensified its media and guidance efforts to promote the service and explain how to use it, through awareness messages, digital screens, and various media platforms, aiming to raise awareness among Hajj pilgrims and ‘Umrah pilgrims and encourage them to benefit from the service in a way that helps reduce the burden of carrying luggage within the precincts of the Two Holy Mosques. The General Authority has also worked on improving the efficiency and qualification of service providers according to the highest operational standards, enhancing performance quality, response speed, and professional handling of beneficiaries, in addition to supporting the service with qualified field staff to manage lost and unclaimed baggage in accordance with precise and organised procedures. These initiatives contribute to enhancing the visitor experience and achieving higher levels of comfort and reassurance for the Guests of Ar-Rahman, in line with the objectives of developing services provided to them, and enabling them to perform their acts of worship with ease within an integrated regulatory environment.
