Saudia, Garuda Indonesia Partner to Expand Connectivity, Enhance Travel Experience

Jeddah, August 28, 2026, SPA -- Saudia and Garuda Indonesia have signed a Joint Business Framework Agreement, taking their strategic partnership into a new phase of integration.

The agreement will expand connectivity between their networks, enhance the travel experience, and provide passengers with more options across the markets served by both carriers.

Director General of Saudia Group Ibrahim Al-Omar and President Director and CEO of Garuda Indonesia Glenny Kairupan signed the agreement in the presence of Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Amoudi.

The agreement builds on a memorandum of understanding announced in July and reflects continued progress in the partnership between the two carriers. Following the signing, the airlines will officially begin the process of obtaining regulatory approvals and complete the necessary agreements and arrangements ahead of the planned launch of their Joint Business operations in 2027.

The joint operation is expected to expand travel and connectivity options between Indonesia and Australia on one side, and Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa on the other. It will leverage the combined networks of Saudia and Garuda Indonesia, which together provide access to more than 120 destinations across these markets. The partnership also offers future opportunities to expand connectivity through new routes and direct flights to additional destinations.

The cooperation aims to provide passengers with greater flexibility through integrated fare options and joint commercial initiatives. It will further enhance the travel experience through closer cooperation in frequent-flyer programs, technology, and airport services.

Particular attention will be given to Hajj and Umrah travel from Indonesia, with both carriers working to expand connectivity options and enhance the travel experience for Indonesian pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia.
