International Conference on Saudi Efforts to Counter Intellectual Deviations Opens in Madinah
Madinah, September 27, 2026, SPA -- The International Conference on Saudi Arabia's Efforts to Counter Intellectual Deviations held its opening session on Sunday, bringing together leading scholars, specialists, and researchers.
Organized by the Islamic University of Madinah, the conference's opening session examined the role of Islamic creed (Aqidah) in preventing intellectual deviations and protecting individuals and society from deviant ideas.
The session focused on the impact of sound Islamic creed on promoting intellectual awareness. It was chaired by Quba Mosque imam and khatib, and teacher at the Prophet's Mosque, Dr. Sulayman Al-Ruhayli, a faculty member at the Islamic University of Madinah.
The session discussed the role of sound religious awareness in preventing intellectual deviations, the Islamic foundations for safeguarding thought, and the importance of strengthening religious creed in confronting extremism. It also highlighted Saudi Arabia's efforts to promote the Sunnah and their impact on public awareness, as well as the role of creed in building balanced personalities and countering deviant ideas.
The two-day event, along with its accompanying exhibition, is being held at the King Salman International Convention Center in Madinah.
It aims to showcase Saudi Arabia's efforts to counter extremism and intellectual deviations, highlight its approach based on moderation and balance, promote tolerant Islamic values, and foster a culture of dialogue and tolerance.
With the participation of a select group of scholars, specialists, and researchers, the conference also presents national experiences and initiatives aimed at preventing and addressing intellectual deviations.
