Emergency Medicine Conference Concludes in Jeddah

Jeddah, September 14, 2026, SPA -- The 11th Scientific Assembly of the Saudi Society of Emergency Medicine (SASEM 2026), organized by the association under the patronage of the Ministry of Health, concluded today in Jeddah after three days of scientific sessions, workshops, and accompanying activities, with the participation of leaders, experts, and specialized practitioners from within the Kingdom and abroad.

The conference discussed the latest developments in emergency medicine, as well as ways to enhance clinical practices, education, training, and scientific research. It also addressed the role of leadership and innovation in preparing a new generation of practitioners and developing their ability to handle emergency cases efficiently, contributing to improved quality of care and patient safety.

Discussions examined the readiness of the healthcare system to respond to disasters and mass-casualty incidents, highlighting the importance of advance planning, training, simulation, and developing teams capable of making decisions under exceptional circumstances, particularly amid limited resources and rising casualty numbers. The sessions also explored emerging challenges in responding to major incidents.

The sessions detailed Saudi Arabia's accumulated experience in crowd management during Hajj and Umrah seasons, providing practical lessons for improving preparedness, coordination among healthcare teams, and knowledge exchange with specialists from various countries, supporting the development of emergency and disaster medicine.
